Volunteer Opportunities

New York International Wine Auction Model VolunteerEach year at a special luncheon, HARC recognizes over two hundred volunteers who give the gift of their time and talents to help enrich lives of individuals with disabilities and/or assist with HARC’s fundraising efforts. Their positive impact, values, advocacy, dedication, and commitment contribute to the quality of events and programs HARC provides—making it possible for consumers and the community to interact in a positive and meaningful way. HARC is always looking for individuals willing donate their time—whether it be playing bingo with seniors, serving on a specific committee, or helping to set up or work at one of HARC’s fundraisers. Volunteer opportunities could include:

  • Recreational activities such as coaching a sports team, singing with the HARC Chorus, assisting with recreation activities, providing leadership for HARC’s Venture Scouts and Boy Scouts troops, or teaching an art class at HARC’s Recreation Activity Center. Community based habilitation includes assisting with socialization skills, functional learning, and/or spirituality.
  • Being a “Buddy” at an HARC site, such as volunteering time at a HARC residence, the Herkimer Industries vocational workshop, or in Day & Clinical programs in a classroom setting or at the Senior Center.
  • Other opportunities such as volunteering at special events or fundraisers, serving on one of HARC’s committees, and/or providing clerical or information technology assistance.
