HARC Transportation Services

HARC Transportation Services staff thanks Assemblyman Butler for his legislative support.HARC transports over 300 people with special needs per day, along with providing nearly 250 passenger trips for HCCC students and Even Start families in Herkimer County. HARC is authorized to provide door-to-door, fixed route, demand responsive, and charter and contract transportation services.

HARC Transportation Services is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and 52 weeks a year. Current office hours of operation include: Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., with emergency on-call available 24/7.

Currently, the HARC fleet boasts 17 full size buses, 2 mini-buses and 3 vans. HARC vehicles are air-conditioned and handicapped accessible. Additionally, all vehicles are equipped with emergency communications systems, and all buses are DOT (Department of Transportation) inspected by regulation.

HARC drivers have CDL class B licenses. They are 19A certified and their training, along with Bus Monitors, includes: First Aid, CPR, passenger assistance, and emergency evacuation.

Charter Services

Although transporting people with disabilities is Transportation Services’ specialty, charter services are available for various groups and private parties. HARC buses currently transport individuals from Herkimer County Community College, New York State and the Central Developmental Disability Service Organization, Valley Health Services, Folts Home, and other private groups.
