We are advocates for people with developmental and other disabilities. It is our job to ensure there are the necessary array of services and programs needed by people with disabilities and their families in Herkimer County. Additionally, we ensure that those services and programs help people to reach their full potential and that those services promote maximum independence and enriched lives.

Your membership support is vital in fulfilling our mission.

We empower people with disabilities and their families by increasing the public’s awareness about their needs, rights and most importantly their abilities. One way we accomplish this goal is through a strong membership base. Such a base enables HARC to demonstrate that there are many in our community who care about people with disabilities. Your membership support is vital in meeting this goal.

…Advocacy throughout New York State.

Through NYSARC, Inc., our statewide umbrella organization, we are able to advocate for legislative issues affecting the lives of people with disabilities and their families. Your HARC membership strengthens our voice within NYSARC, Inc. We want to be heard on issues such as housing, education, and transportation—all which affect people with disabilities and their families who not only live in Herkimer County, but across the State. The larger our membership—the more voting power we have within NYSARC. The larger our membership, the more effective NYSARC, Inc. is in working with New York State lawmakers.

Through our affiliation with The ARC of the United States we are able to advocate for legislative issues affecting the lives of people with disabilities and their families throughout the United States. The larger our membership, the more effectiven The ARC is in working with national lawmakers.

As a member you will know that you are helping over 600 people with developmental and other disabilities that are served by HARC. You will receive our quarterly newsletter and information about our activities, including special events and tours. Also as a HARC member, you will be eligible to join the Remington Employees Credit Union in Ilion, and you will receive a discount for our National Safety Council’s Defensive Drivers Course.

Membership costs are minimal. For just $10 a year, you can join. Additionally, if you enroll your family members too, your added contribution helps us even more to serve people with developmental and other disabilities, and their families, in Herkimer County.

HARC Membership levels are:

Individual Membership – $10
$5 for each additional member who resides at your household
Consumer – $1.00
HARC Staff – $5.00
