Annual Appeal
Life is Beautiful Annual Appeal
The Annual Life is Beautiful Appeal funds specific needs of the HARC. Each year a member of the community chairs the Appeal and working with the HARC Fund Development Committee selects vital and necessary items to be financed through the results of the Appeal. Members of the community are then asked to donate toward the purchase of those items through direct mail. HARC Site Building generators were funded in 2005, giving HARC the capacity to continue care in the event of an emergency. AEDs (Automated external defibrillators) were funded in 2006 supplying life saving equipment in each of the 25 facilities of HARC to safeguard both consumers and staff. Both physical therapy and sensory equipment were funded in 2007 to provide significant upgrades to help individuals maintain their functional and independent mobility. In 2008, GPS systems were funded giving the HARC the ability to locate each bus used by HARC and to improve communication.
The current 2009 appeal has a goal of $40,000 to fund adaptive equipment to continue to create a “lift free” environment throughout HARC to ultimately make transfers safer for both consumers and staff.
