Who We Are
The Herkimer Area Resource Center (HARC) began in May of 1969 when a group of parents asked the questions: Who will care for our children and what will they do when they reach the age of 21?

Today, we are a partnership of people with disabilities, their families, staff, members, and volunteers providing a full spectrum of individualized services for people with disabilities and their families. Most people receiving our services have a developmental disability, and some have psychiatric or physical disabilities. We are a family–based, not–for–profit, community organization. We are a chapter of NYSARC, Inc. We are located in Herkimer County, New York and we are centrally located in the Mohawk River Valley, along the Erie Canal and in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains.
